FAQ

Competitor tracking with poor or no internet connection

Updated
The app is functional even without an internet connection.

Competitors will be able to download all their event tracks (roadbooks) to the RBR Roadbook Reader app for offline use two days before the event's start date. This process is triggered automatically upon accessing the "My Events" page in the app and is confirmed by a green YES notification, as illustrated in the screenshot below. Competitors can open the track 20 minutes (configured by the event organizer) prior to their scheduled start time.
During the ride, the app will make ongoing efforts to synchronize competitor GPS data with the servers (and recalculate results & penalties). In instances where an internet connection is unavailable, the app will gather data and hold it until a connection is re-established for synchronization.

It's important to note that organizers won't have the capability to access real-time location data on the event's "Live tracking" page, such as speed and stops, for competitors who are without an internet connection.

From the competitor's viewpoint, it's crucial to be aware that organizers won't be able to access your live location data, posing a challenge in providing timely support, especially in emergencies. Therefore, it is highly advised to connect to the mobile data network (have an active internet connection) during the event (if it is technically possible in the region). This will ensure better communication and support from the organizers throughout the participation in the event.
